Since humans evolved, we’ve wanted to be kept safe and we look to leaders and our tribes (the groups / teams that we belong to) to provide that.

In the business context, this means that one of the most powerful things a leader can do is cut through all the confusing stuff that is bombarding their people every day and provide them with that certainty of direction / purpose that makes them feel safe and inevitably inspired.

It doesn’t mean that leaders shouldn’t listen, learn and develop relationships…in fact, quite the opposite, leaders HAVE TO grow their network and knowledge of their field / market every day, so that they can be sure that the direction they are setting is the right one.

But, an organisation, tribe, team or individual who knows with absolute certainty that they are doing the right thing always has and always will achieve more.
